DIY Underarm Detox: A Safe And Natural Cleanse

Detox is nothing new from diets to health drinks, facial cleansers to facial masks. But have you ever tried an underarm detox? Think about it. That is the place you sweat. That is also where you use deodorant, which may have some harmful chemicals and toxins. Plus, that is also where skin can be really sensitive. So it is actually really important to cleanse and detox your underarms in a safe and natural way.

It has even been proven that doing an underarm detox regularly can help prevent breast cancer.

armpit cleanse

What You Need:

  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 2 Teaspoons Water

For Sensitive Skin:

  • 1 Tablespoon Bentonite Clay
  • 1 Teaspoon Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 2 Teaspoons Water

What To Do:

Whether you are using the simple 2 ingredient baking soda solution or if you have more sensitive skin and are trying out the second one, aside from the ingredients, making the detox and actually applying it is more or less the same. So to make the detox, with both kinds, just mix all the ingredients together until you have a paste like substance. Done.

  • Note: Do not use a metal spoon to mix. The metal may create some unwanted chemical reaction. So use a wooden one if you can. If you don’t have a wooden spoon, your fingers are the next best thing.

How To Apply:

Take your homemade armpit detox paste and gently rub it on to your underarms in a gentle, circular manner. Apply evenly. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes. Some people may feel either an itching or stinging sensation and because the skin there is really sensitive, it may turn red. These will subside. But if it is unbearable before the 15 minutes are up, rinse off with warm water.

  • Note: A good follow up would be to mix freshly squeezed lemon juice and some water. Use this solution to cleanse your underarms further. Not only with the citric acid kill bacteria, but it will also help whiten your underarms too.

Do this cleanse two to three times a week.

Homemade Skin Tightening Face Scrub

As you get older, your skin starts to lose it’s elasticity and this is where sag and large pores take place. So to minimize the harsh effects of wear and tear, you have to love the skin you’re in, especially since it’s the only one you’ve got, and take as best care of it as you can.

Now, certain anti aging treatments can definitely be expensive. But do know that looking good doesn’t necessarily need to cost a pretty penny. There are plenty affordable yet effective solutions that you can whip up yourself right at home. Heck, more often than not, everything you need is probably already sitting right in your kitchen cupboard.

Our DIY this time is on a homemade skin tightening face scrub. Last time we covered a the “PORE-fect” solution face mask, which you can check out here.

Anyway, if you are interested, the ingredients and instructions follow.

skin tightening mask

What You Need:

  • 1 Tablespoon Baking Soda
  • ½ Tablespoon Honey (unsweetened, natural, the darker, the better)
  • 1 Drop Lavender Oil
  • 1 Drop Argan Oil

What To Do:

Once you have everything you need in place, start with the baking soda and the honey. Again, just to reiterate, with honey, much like chocolate, the darker, he better. Mix the baking soda and the honey together until you have a rather consistent type of paste. Then add one drop of lavender oil and one drop of argan oil and continue to mix until everything is well blended together. Voila! You have your very own homemade skin tightening face scrub.

How To Apply:

The first thing you want to do is open up your pores. That’s right- open them up first to seal them in tighter after. You can either do this by placing a warm wash cloth over your face and let it sit for a good minute or so or you could also steam your pores open by getting a pot of hat water, placing your face above it, then covering the whole thing with a towel draped over your head. Do so for about 2-3 minutes.
Once you have opened up your pores, take your homemade face scrub and begin to gently massage it on your face and neck in circular motions. Let it sit for about five minutes.

If at the beginning you wanted to open up your pores, now you want to close them. For this cool, if not cold, water should do the trick. Rinse off then pat dry.

For some, the skin may be a bit red after, but it should wear off after a couple minutes.

NOTE: Use this face scrub no more than twice a week.

And as for shrinking these little (or shall I say large?) suckers, home remedies can come to the rescue. – Safe, effective, and affordable.

So, what is the PORE-fect solution to tightening skin and shrinking pores? With only two ingredients and some love, you can go ahead and make your very own Honey Avocado Facial Mask.

HoneyAvocado

What You Need:

  • 1 Ripe Avocado
  • 1 Tablespoon of Honey (just like chocolate, the darker, the better!)

• Did you know that avocados are known to be an anti aging super food? Whether you take it as a healthy snack or mash it up and apply directly on your skin, (which, by the way, there are numerous ways to do so) avocados have tons of great benefits. Well, you can learn all about avocados and what to do with them here!.

What To Do:

For DIY skin care solutions, we like to keep it quick and easy – not only to save money, but to save time as well. With this Honey Avocado Skin Tightening Mask, once you have your two ingredients, simply slice the avocado in half, and move all of the ‘meat’ into a bowl. Mask it up. Mash it up well.

Once you have a rather paste like substance, add in a tablespoon of honey. And then mash it up again. Once blended together, it is time to apply.

As always, start with a clean face. So it it best to apply right after washing. Pat dry (always pat dry!) then simply take some of the mask that you just made and spread it evenly over you face in a gentle circular motion. Let it sit for a good 10-15 minutes and then rinse off with cool if not cold water. (Cold water helps tighten skin and shrink pores to)
