When you have a long day ahead and you want something sweet but healthy to give you a good boost of energy, this Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie recipe is perfect.
What You Need:
- 1 Banana
- 2 Tablespoons Peanut Butter
- 1/2 Cup Non-Fat Milk (Soy Milk is a healthy alternative!)
- 1/8 Cup Spinach Leaves
- Dash of Cinnamon (Optional)
Why You Need It:
Bananas are full of potassium, vitamins, and minerals- yes, all of which give you energy. But the secret of the banana’s energy boosting power is that it actually has three kinds of sugar. Fructose and glucose, which are absorbed into the blood stream rather quickly give you that instant boost. However, unlike candy or chocolate bars, bananas also have sucrose, sugar number three. Sucrose acts much more slowly. This is what will keep your blood sugar stable making sure that you won’t come crashing down after.
Peanut Butter is full of protein and fat, the healthy kind. This means that it gives you the calories you need, again in a healthy way, to give you the energy you need. But don’t worry about the calories bit and gaining unwanted weight too. You see, protein also keeps you fuller longer, which keeps you from eating more than what your body needs.
What To Do:
After you’ve gathered your ingredients, you need to get them ready (the banana and spinach anyway) before popping them into the blender. Peel your banana and slice it up into chunks. And as for the spinach leaves, just be sure to wash them well. Once that’s done. Simply but everything into the blender and whiz away.
If you want your smoothie to be “thinner” just add a little more milk or even a little water.
When you have the consistency just the way you want it, simply pour into a glass, drink up, and enjoy.
