Everyone knows that you should wash your face about two times a day—when you get up in the morning and before you go to bed at night. However, when it comes to deep cleansing, aka exfoliating, you should do this only twice a week, and with a good scrub. Speaking of scrubs, why buy when you can DIY? One of my favorites is this Homemade Brightening Salt And Lemon Scrub. With just a few ingredients, you can be sloughing off those dead skin cells in no time.
Interested? Well, ingredients and instructions below:
What You Need:
- ½ cup of Epsom Salt
- 1 Lemon
- 3 tablespoons of Olive Oil
What To Do:
The first thing you need is to take a clean, dry container to mix your ingredients together. A mason jar is great because when you’re done, you can seal it tightly and save the rest for future use.
Once you have everything ready, pour in your ½ cup of Epsom salt and your three tablespoons of olive oil. Next, slice your lemon in half and squeeze out the good stuff. After you’ve added the lemon juice, simply mix everything together.
How to Use:
Again, just to reiterate, this should be used only twice a week. If you exfoliate too much, you could actually harm your skin. You don’t want that, now do you?
Wet your face and take your homemade brightening salt and lemon scrub. Then begin to massage it gently in a circular motion all over your face and neck. Once done, let it sit for about 5 minutes, then rinse off preferably with cool if not cold water. Pat your skin dry. (PAT, do not rub) And then you should follow up with your favorite moisturizer.
