How To Whiten Dark Underarms
Dark underarms can definitely be a turn off. But let’s face it, unless you are like super blessed, or super young, it is pretty normal, not pretty, but normal. Hiding them under long sleeves isn’t the only solution. You can whiten, lighten, and brighten. What better way to fight off this natural skin problem than with natural home remedies?
But before we get into the kitchen concoctions that I do oh so love, let’s take a look at the cause(s) and then the cure.
What Causes Dark Underarms?
- Certain Deodorants (it really depends on how your skin reacts)
- Excessive Sweating (but usually only followed by…)
- Improper washing
- Androgen based contraceptives (and ironically…)
- Pregnancy (ha!)
- Dark Hair Follicles
- Dead Skin Build Up
- Tight Clothing (too much rubbing of your armpits on clothing, that is)
Home Remedies To Whiten Dark Underarms:
BAKING SODA SOLUTION
This baking soda solution is pretty simple yet is rather effective. You only need two things, baking soda and white vinegar. Mix a little amount of both, do a 2:1 ratio, 2 being the baking soda and 1 being the vinegar, until you have a paste of sorts.
Apply this paste to you underarms, clean-just washed-but dry underarms and leave for a good 15-20 minutes. Then rinse off with warm water. If possible, do this twice a day.
You see, baking soda is a natural cleanser (which, by the way, is one of the best. This baby can even remove rust!) and vinegar is a natural stain remover. Put two and two together and you have yourself a pretty great underarm whitener.
You can also try out this lightening lime paste. All you need is some lime juice, freshly squeezed of course, some milk powder, and honey. Add a little of each until you have a nice paste. Just like with the baking soda solution, once ready, you can go ahead and apply.
Leave on for about 15-20 minutes as well, then rinse off- the ingredients are the different, but the application is pretty much the same.
What is great about this paste is that all three ingredients have amazing lightening properties.
A SIMPLE SLICE
Don’t wanna do any mixing and matching? Well, it doesn’t get any easier than this- all you need is a lemon, slice it in half, then the whole preparation stage is done.
Rub the lemon on your underarms in a circular motion (again, make sure that your underarms are clean and dry). Do this for about 10 minutes each. Then rinse off.
The secret is in the citric acid. It kills bacteria and naturally bleaches. Double yay!
