Reader’s Question: How Do I Remove Makeup Naturally?
For women, one of the worst things you can do to your skin is to sleep with your makeup on. It’s true. Although I am sure that some, if not most, if not all of you out there have committed this skin care sin at one point or another – Whether you were too tired to do it, too drunk, or you just simply forgot. If you keep this up, nasty pimples are sure to surface.
And you definitely don’t want that.
Which brings me to a question that one of our avid readers has sent in, and a great one for that! : How do I remove makeup naturally?
Of course you have cleansers, facial wash, make up remover that you can get straight from your nearest department store. But if you are looking for something even closer (like your kitchen), cheaper, and definitely safer, then here are 5 amazing natural makeup removers that you can find in your cupboard.
Got milk? Then you have got your self a great makeup remover! You will find yourself makeup free in 3 simple steps.
- Dampen some cotton balls in milk.
- Gently remove make up. (this works even for mascara, long as it’s NOT WATERPROOF!)
- Then rinse off as you normally would.
Yogurt , the plain, unflavored kind, is a great makeup remover, and it really does it well. Simply spread the yogurt all over your face, massage it in, you can let it sit for a while, then rinse off. You will be pleasantly surprised to see that it has lifted your makeup right off.
Banana also makes the list. Mash it, add two drops of milk for better consistency, then apply on your face as a mask. Yep. So this might take a little longer than the first two mentioned. But that 10-15 minute wait will not only do wonders for your skin, but it is the perfect time to just relax and unwind after a long day. Rinse off and you are ready for bed.
When it comes to using cucumber as a makeup remover, there are actually two ways to do it. Compared to the super fast ones above, you have the long way and well, the other long way.
1. Blend the cucumber until you have a nice green paste, add half a cup of water, put it in a pot or pan then bring it to a simmer. Of course, cool before use. When cool, massage on face in a circular motion then rinse off.
2. Put your cucumber in a juicer, get the juice, and add about 3-5 drops of baby oil. Dampen a cotton bud and rub to remove makeup.
Although these cucumber makeup removers may take longer to prepare, if you make enough, you can store it for up to a week.
Coconut oil, olive oil, heck even baby oil, whatever oil you have! Just dampen a cotton bud with oil and watch the makeup come right off. Unlike milk, this even works to remove waterproof mascara (See? No stinging sensation, like the store bought ones sometimes have, required)
